The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akinyele Local Government has initiated a grassroots mobilization campaign aimed at encouraging residents to engage in the ongoing Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) registration process conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Executive Chairman of Akinyele LG, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, urged party leaders and members to prioritize collective goals over personal interests as they work towards fortifying the PDP in anticipation of upcoming national congresses and elections.

Hon Akinwole Akinleye highlighted the critical role of voter registration as a cornerstone of political engagement, calling on members to inform residents—particularly first-time voters and young people—about the significance of securing their PVCs. He stated, “This effort transcends Akinyele LG; it is about the future of our party and our state. We can only achieve victory if every eligible citizen registers for and collects their PVC. Without this, our endeavors will be in vain.”

He emphasized the necessity of setting aside individual political ambitions and aspirations, declaring that the only priority at this moment should be the PDP and the ongoing transformative agenda of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde. Hon Akinwole Akinleye reaffirmed the local government’s unwavering support for the governor’s vision of inclusive governance, asserting that the PDP in Akinyele is united in its commitment to bolstering the governor’s political initiatives.

The Executive chairman cautioned against the dangers of personal ambitions or factional interests, warning that such actions could undermine the party’s collective strength. He remarked, “Every decision made by the governor on behalf of the party aligns with the aspirations of the PDP, particularly in Akinyele LG. Individual ambitions must not overshadow our collective interests and the governor’s political direction.”

“Our strength lies within the grassroots, where elections are truly decided. It is our responsibility as leaders and stakeholders to mobilize our community to register, revalidate, and prepare to vote when the time comes. The PDP is more potent when we stand united, and this mobilization effort demonstrates our dedication to the party’s progress and our unwavering support for the governor’s vision.”

Hon Akinwole Akinleye further noted that the success of the PDP at both national and state levels hinges on the level of mobilization and unity achieved within the ward and local government structures. He also commended the governor for his leadership and coordination, celebrating what he termed a significant victory in the Ibadan North federal constituency by-election. Hon Akinwole Akinleye recognized the previous electoral challenges faced by the PDP in Ibadan North, praising the governor for reclaiming the seat for the party.

Hon Akinwole Akinleye urged the people to make good use of the voters registration drive to ensure continuity of good governance set by Gov Seyi Makinde in Oyo state so that the dividends of democracy can be spread round to all nooks and crannies.
