KANGARA’S CLAIM OF PARTY LOYALTY: A DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO REWRITE HISTORY

The attention of the Movement for Decorum in Akinyele Local Government has been drawn to the recent media statement credited to the Secretary and Political Head of Akinyele East LCDA, Hon. Ahmed Kazeem Adekunle (popularly known as Kangara), in which he attempted to deny alleged links with a faction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while simultaneously portraying himself as a loyalist of the party structure in Oyo State.

Ordinarily, such a claim would have been ignored, but it becomes necessary to respond when public statements are deliberately crafted to mislead party members and the general public.

For the avoidance of doubt, Hon. Kangara and the Honourable Member representing Akinyele State Constituency II, Hon. Deacon Olatunde Kehinde, have over time been central figures in the internal division currently troubling the PDP in Akinyele Local Government. Their persistent refusal to recognise and work with the legitimate party structure in the local government has been one of the major sources of tension among party faithful.

The bitterness that now defines their political conduct did not start today. It became evident when they attempted to force their loyalists on the leadership of Akinyele Local Government as party executives. When that move was overwhelmingly rejected by party stakeholders who insisted on due process and collective decision making, they allegedly resorted to sponsoring parallel party executives; a move widely condemned by genuine party members.

More disturbing are the widespread allegations that these parallel structures have been sustained with resources belonging to Akinyele Local Government: resources that ought to serve the developmental needs of the people rather than personal political battles.

Against this background, it is both ironic and hypocritical for Hon. Kangara to rush to the media to deny involvement in any so called pro-Wike congress, when in reality he and his political associates have consistently demonstrated open disregard for the authority, structure, and leadership of the PDP in Oyo State.

One cannot claim loyalty to a party structure while simultaneously undermining it at the grassroots. Loyalty is not declared in press statements; it is demonstrated through discipline, respect for party institutions, and commitment to unity.

If Hon. Kangara truly believes in the leadership of the PDP in Oyo State, then he must explain to party members why parallel party executives emerged in Akinyele under his watch and why his political camp has repeatedly refused to align with the recognised party structure in the local government.

The Movement for Decorum therefore urges members of the PDP and the good people of Akinyele not to be distracted by carefully worded media statements designed to whitewash actions that have long been visible to everyone within the local political space.

History cannot be rewritten through press releases, and the truth about those who have contributed to the division within the party will remain clear to all.

Our position remains simple: the unity, discipline, and integrity of the Peoples Democratic Party must not be sacrificed on the altar of personal political ambition.

Signed

Ibrahim Pemisire Oladimeji
Leader, Movement for Decorum in Akinyele Local Government
