The House of Representatives Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, Engr. Toheeb Adegoke ADLAT, has said that Nigerians deserve tangible dividends of democracy and not endless excuses from those entrusted with public office.

Speaking in a Democracy Day message on Friday, ADLAT noted that while June 12 remains a symbol of the people’s struggle for democratic governance, the true essence of democracy lies in its ability to improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

According to him, millions of Nigerians are battling economic hardship, insecurity and declining living standards despite years of uninterrupted democratic rule.

“Democracy cannot be measured by the conduct of elections alone. It must be measured by the quality of life of the people. Where citizens are hungry, unemployed and unsafe, leaders must do more than celebrate democracy; they must make it work,” he stated.

The APM candidate maintained that the people of Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency deserve leadership that listens, represents and delivers measurable progress.

ADLAT further called for a democratic commitment to accountability, people-focused governance and policies that directly address the challenges confronting Nigerians.

He congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day and urged citizens not to lose faith in the democratic process, insisting that sustainable development can only be achieved when government remains accountable to the people.
