CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE PASSING OF HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, OBA SIKIRU KAYODE ADETONA, CFR

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
﴿ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ﴾
“Every soul shall taste death.”
[Āl ʿImrān: 185]

With heavy hearts, yet full submission to the divine will of Allāh ﷻ, we at the Agesin Islamic Foundation, together with the broader community of Dār al-Iftāʾ Tijāniyyah wal Ibrāhīmiyyah, offer our deepest condolences to the royal family and the entire people of Ijebuland on the transition of His Royal Majesty Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.

His Majesty’s reign shall remain a luminous and defining chapter in the annals of traditional leadership in Yorubaland. With uncommon courage, dignity, wisdom, and principled truthfulness, Oba Adetona stood tall as a monarch whose moral compass and steadfast voice earned national reverence. He was not only a custodian of heritage but also a symbol of justice and royal integrity.

We earnestly pray that Allāh ﷻ, the Most Merciful, forgives his shortcomings, bathes him in divine light, and grants him a lofty place among the righteous in Al-Firdaws al-Aʿlā. May the royal household, the Council of Obas, and the Ijebu nation be consoled with ṣabr jamīl (beautiful patience) and guided to preserve his noble legacy.

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn – Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him is our return.
