The Chairperson of Akinyele Local Government Mrs. Funmilola Akinleye, has urged residents in the council area to refrain from selling the treated mosquito nets distributed to them. Instead, she emphasized the importance of using these nets as advised by health officials to combat mosquito-borne diseases.

This statement was made during the official launch of the distribution of treated mosquito nets at the Akinyele Council Secretariat, Moniya.

Mrs. Akinleye who was represented by her aide, Mrs Fagade highlighted that the initiative aims to fight malaria and enhance public health within the community. She expressed her gratitude to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and his wife, Mrs. OluFunke Makinde, for their support in bringing this vital program to the grassroots level, acknowledging their humanitarian efforts on behalf of women and children in the area.

She reiterated that the launch of this program is part of the broader effort by His Excellency to minimize malaria cases in the state. Furthermore, she commended her husband, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, for his unwavering commitment to ensuring that women and children in the Akinyele Local Government receive essential support and services.

The Executive Chairman of Akinyele LG, Hon Akinwole Akinleye who also graced the flag off ceremony reaffirmed his commitment to promoting public health.He also urged residents of the local Government to embrace the great opportunity and give health officers and distributors the required support to make the exercise a success.

The Akinyele LG Maternal and child care Health Officer,Mrs Oladele Adebola Omotayo also expressed her gratitude to everyone present and acknowledged the committee responsible for organizing the program. She underscored the high prevalence and risks associated with malaria, particularly for pregnant women and children.

Another health officer from the Local Government, Mr Ibrahim encouraged the community to make the consistent use of mosquito nets a daily practice to help eliminate malaria and reduce unnecessary medical costs.

Among the dignitaries present were the Executive Chairman of Akinyele LG, Hon Akinwole Akinleye, the program manager for the net campaign in the Local Government, The Local Government health officers, Supervisory Councillor for health, Mrs Fadahunsi, heads of departments, market women, Nursing mothers, religious leaders, community leaders, stakeholders amongst others.
