On 19th January 2026, Hon . Sakiru Akintunde , the Executive Vice Chairman of Akinyele Local Government and Political Head of Akinyele South LCDA, demonstrated his strong commitment to grassroots economic development by embarking on a POS empowerment initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods of the people of Akinyele South.

The empowerment programme was designed to promote financial inclusion, reduce unemployment, and encourage self-reliance among youths, women, and small-scale entrepreneurs within the LCDA. Beneficiaries were provided with Point of Sale (POS) machines, a vital tool for modern financial transactions in both urban and semi-urban communities. Beyond the provision of the machines, Hon. Sakiru Akintunde went a step further by raising and disbursing startup capital to beneficiaries, enabling them to commence operations immediately without financial constraints.

This initiative reflects the people-oriented leadership style of Hon. Sakiru Akintunde, who believes that sustainable development begins with empowering individuals with practical tools and opportunities. The POS empowerment scheme is expected to boost local commerce, enhance access to banking services, and create multiple streams of income for families across Akinyele South LCDA.
